You’ve been taught WRONG about Minor7♭5 chords.

Most bassists are told to play the Locrian mode on this chord, but if you ask NYC pro bassists, they’ll tell you a completely different story. The truth is, great players think of a Minor7♭5 as a Minor6 chord built from the minor third.
