Today on this 2014 Toyota Prius V, we are going to install part number 118610, from Tow Ready. This is a T-One vehicle wire harness with a 4 pole flat trailer connector. To start off we need to open the back hatch of the vehicle. We will go ahead and cover the layout of the wire harness. The T-connector with the yellow wire is going to install on the wire harness roughly in this area here, behind this panel. Likewise on the passenger side, the T-connector with the green wire we will install back in there. Our white wire with the ring terminal will be our ground.
The red wire will be eventually connected to a longer piece of black wire, and eventually go to our 12 volt power supply and this is our 4-pole wire harness that will eventually go to our trailer. To get access to our wire harness we will go ahead and remove the floor coverings and we are also going to have to remove the threshold and loosen up the side panels. Let's go ahead and remove some accessories. We will go ahead and open up this panel here. That was the drivers side, we'll do the same thing on the passenger side. We will go ahead and remove the threshold as well.
Typically, just pressure, steady pressure pulling up will break the snaps loose. There it is. I kind of like to get one side started that way and then using a trim panel tool to get the rest of it out. Sometimes one will get stuck. There it is. All right, we are going to loosen up this bolt and this tie down point here so I can get our panel a little bit loosened up.
We will use a 10 millimeter socket. Let's go ahead and pop our panel loose. There it is. There's a snap right in this area. A snap about right here.
There should be something along the edge on top. There we go. Okay and that's all we need so we can get through here to the outside. Okay, the drivers side is done, let's do the same thing on the passenger side. There it is. All right now this tray will come out and we will need to do that because eventually we will need access to a 12 volt power supply.Let's go ahead and install our first T-connector. Let's go ahead and push it behind the panel here. We will let that sit for now and then we will take apart our connection point here, a small button you push and you can pull it apart. Then we will take our T-connector, push it in and connect the other half. Now we've done on the drivers side so let's do the same thing over on the passenger side. Let's go ahead and work with our red wire. We will go ahead and put the provided butt-connector on one end and then a small piece of black wire comes with the kit on the other end. Okay, another butt-connector here. Then we will get our fuse holder ready. With your fuse holder ready we will go ahead and cut the loop in half, snip the wire back about a 1/4 inch and we will add one end to the butt-connector and the other end will get the provided ring terminal. We will go ahead our fuse connector and route it to the positive side of the battery. I think we will just go under the battery clamp. We will go ahead and loosen up this nut and apply the ring terminal to it. Another option is to go ahead and put the ring terminal on top and install another nut. The part number we are using for the nut is 185917. We will need a 13 millimeter socket for that. Let's go ahead and add the fuse to the fuse holder. Okay and we will leave that alone for now. Last we will go ahead and work with the ground wire and we are going to attach to the factory ground, located right here. All right, we will use a 10 millimeter socket on the ground. At this point everything is electrically connected, we can go ahead and start securing our wires.I think when we do this, we will use one of the zip ties that come with the kit and just tie a module to the ground wire or is it tied to the factory ground wire. I think we will secure it next to the battery. Cut off the tail. We will continue on securing wires. Right, with all our wires secured we can go ahead and basically start reassembly of our interior components. We will just go ahead and snap everything back together. Make sure everything fits and then we will go ahead and put the fasteners in place.Okay, let's go ahead and put our compartments back in to place and the rest of our floor coverings. Before we put our last tray back in to place, let's go ahead and pull out the 4 pole wire harness. We will go ahead and route it through the opening
