You can refine pure silver and copper in the first step, and then by changing out the types of metal that you feed the cells you can recover over ten different metals and collect precious metals like gold and palladium. I’ll also demonstrate how you can recover about 85% of your acids for reuse back into the system.
So once you’ve run a certain amount of time, about six months, using fresh electrolyte in the system you won’t have to buy much more acid. By sort of working backwards; you change out your anode alloy and you can recover your starting chemicals in pure form and also collect the other base metals. You will need a distillation set up to totally recover everything.
Let’s start with the electrolyte in the cells. The solution you pour into the cells. The electrolyte for the silver cells 1 and 2 is dilute nitric acid and pure silver, The electrolyte for the copper cells 3 and 4 is dilute copper sulfate. Dissolve both using distilled water.
You will need nitric acid, pure silver, and distilled water, for your electrolyte, and some impure silver alloy to run in the anode bottle. I melt mine about 85% silver and 15% “whatever” else, usually copper, nickel, and zinc.

With these 4 cells you always get pure silver and copper, but the real beauty of the system is what gets captured in anode bottle. Gold, palladium, platinum, and other precious metals are collected because the electrolyte isn’t strong enough to oxidize certain metals. Along with the copper, nickel, zinc. It also separates the lead, antimony, tin, whatever you put in it comes out the other end. You can also recycle your acids right back into the system after distilling.
