He finished the race in 20 hours, 4 minutes and 25 seconds to place first.Just two months ago in Jordan, Chen had placed second in another ultra distance event. In a post on Facebook, Chen said what kept him going until the finish line was not only his own willpower, but also the children of Cambodia.Chen said that since the race in Jordan had been very strenuous, he wasn''t in top form for the Cambodia event. He said old injuries had resurfaced, making the race very tough. But he was moved by the local children who ran alongside him with smiles on their faces. He said the thought of them walking to school in the blazing sun made the pain in his knees seem like nothing in comparison. In the post, Chen talked about of the journey of self-discovery he had while visiting numerous countries over the past 10 years. He said seeing the world and different ways of life taught him to be happy with what he had and to step out of his comfort zone. He capped off the post saying he was grateful to himself for not giving up.
