What is a Trust Deed?

Firstly, there are two types of Trust Deed:
1) A protected Trust Deed
2) You guessed it - a non-protected Trust Deed

For the purposes of this video we will focus only on the former type of Trust Deed as this is by far the most common and will be relevant for the vast majority of people.

A protected Trust Deed is a legally binding arrangement, only available for those in Scotland. It is a form of insolvency, so unsecured debts must outweigh the value of assets.

The arrangement allows you to make reduced payments for a fixed period - normally 4 years or less.
