Many new immigrants to Canada opt to take up survival jobs in their first few months or years here, be it to practise their communication skills, to pay their bills without digging into their savings, or to add Canadian experience to their resumes. Some are able to gain additional skills and market themselves better in a job interview close to their heart. Some others stagnate or keep getting distant from their professional goals. On this edition of Café New Canadians, host Shruti Dargan speaks to Kunle Ogundijo, Shahin Sultana and Waseem Mohammed about their experience working survival jobs in Canada. Shruti is also joined by Zarin Tasnim, an employment specialist with Springboard Employment Services.
