THE MUMBAI police are on the lookout for three minors who allegedly murdered a 21-year-old after he objected to them bursting crackers. The incident took place on Monday in the Shivaji Nagar area of Govandi following which a murder case was registered by the local police station.

An officer said that the incident took place around 2pm in the Natwar Parekh area of Shivaji Nagar. The officer said that the deceased, Sunil Shankar Naidu (21), objected to a 12-year-old bursting crackers in a bottle near his residence. This led to a fight between the duo.

Later the 12-year-old along with his 15-year-old elder brother and 14-year-old friend approached the deceased. They asked him why he had shouted at the minor, which led to an altercation between the two sides. The trio then started beating up the deceased.
An officer said that the 15-year-old had a chopper with him, with which he stabbed the deceased multiple times. The trio then fled from the spot. Later Naidu was rushed to the Rajawadi hospital where he was declared dead. Following this the local Shivaji Nagar police station registered an FIR against the trio.
An officer said that the accused and deceased resided in the same area and knew each other. “The trio are currently on the run and we are on the lookout for them,” an officer added.
Vadodara: Communal clashes broke out on Diwali night in Vadodara and till Tuesday morning, the police have rounded up at least a dozen rioters while the process of identifying them is currently underway.
The clashes erupted on Monday night in the city’s Panigate area.

Addressing the local media, Vadodara Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yaspal Jaganiya said: “The exact reason for the violence is yet to be ascertained. The moment police learnt of the incident, personnel from across the city were moved to the spot and the situation was brought under control. A petrol bomb was hurled at the police from the terrace of the house, one person is held in this regard.”
Officials said street lights were cut off before the clash broke out, after which rioters from the two sides started hurling stones.
According to a local resident, the clashes broke out over bursting of firecrackers near a college.


West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday night performed Kali Puja at her residence in Bhabanipur area of the city, as hundreds of people gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the rituals.
Ms. Banerjee also prepared the ‘bhog’ (food offering to the goddess) and played host to scores of guests, which included VVIPs, cabinet colleagues, politicians, journalists and the general public.

Clad in her trademark cotton saree, the Chief Minister greeted visitors with folded hands and requested everyone to have the ‘bhog’.

The Kali Puja at her residence has been performed for the last four decades.

Ms. Banerjee’s nephew and TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was also present on the occasion.
