If you were using WhatsApp before this new privacy policy was announced, here's everything WhatsApp and Facebook already knew about you:
your phone number, the contacts in your address book, profile picture, profile name, your profile's about status, the groups and broadcasts you are in, phone model, operating system, IP address, browser information, location information (if you choose to share it with someone else), when you were online, when you were last seen.

So how much worse is the new update?
The short answer: not that much.
