I visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine to receive Daifuku-ume,a sacred plum believed to bring good health when enjoyed as the first tea of the New Year.There are also small moments of warmth—a favorite sweet, a custom-blended spice, and a quiet café on another day.
As Christmas passes and the year draws toward its end,Kyoto slowly fills with people once again,marking the transition from quiet days to the liveliness of the year’s close.
