My method of getting through this game will be in a more unorthodox order compared to Spyro 1 & 2, as the game has a bit more backtracking to it, and even moreso if you plan to go through every level in the order the game lists them. I'm gonna reduce that a bit in my approach.
All 4 homeworlds in this game have a certain number of different types of levels, 4 normal levels, 1 Speedway level, 1 ally level, 1 boss level, and 1 level involving Sparx. After getting all of the homeworld's Gems and Eggs, I start on the ally level, play the first 3 normal levels, play the Speedway level, then the last normal level, then the boss, then the Sparx level later.

Anyway, talk to Moneybags and pay him to release Sheila the Kangaroo. Knowing that Moneybags worked with the Sorceress to imprison her, Sheila promptly gives Moneybags a swift kicking away.
According to her, dragons used to live in the Forgotten Worlds, and their presence gave magic and more life to everything and everyone. When they vanished, so did their magic, and this is part of why you need to keep gathering Dragon Eggs.
When Sheila goes back home through her portal, follow her and then you can play as her, where you get to learn her controls, such as her kick attack, her stomp, her air-hop, and her Mario-like Double Jump.
The main objective of Sheila's Alp is to help her goat friends get back to their homes safely and literally kick the asses of any and all Rhynocs AND moose that say otherwise.

You can talk to Spyro again at the level's entrance to leave the level as him, but each ally character usually says something different to him after beating the level by unlocking its exit portal. I thought that was amusing to know, which is why I leave each ally level this way instead of just taking the exit portal.
After beating an ally's level, you'll unlock that ally's use in any other level that they can appear in through an alternate area. In fact, the actual first level within Sunrise Spring, Sunny Villa is among such levels to let you use Sheila somewhere within it.
Sheila will also appear back in Sunrise Spring to pull down a hot air balloon. You won't see that, here, but that balloon requires the strength of five critters to pull down.
