Academies of the Independence School District

Описание: The Independence School District is one of just 19 school districts in the nation chosen by Ford Next Generation Learning to implement the Career Academy model. This gives all ISD high school students an advantage as they prepare for college and careers. More than 140 industry partners have teamed up with the ISD for the Academies as they see the value in helping our students excel and building their future workforce. The Independence School District is proud to offer 91 courses for college credit with more than 400 college credit hours available. This is allowing our students the option to earn their Associate’s Degree while attending ISD high schools, giving them another competitive advantage over their peers. The Academy model provides students with internships, job shadowing opportunities and hands-on learning experiences. One example of that is the student-run store “All Things Independence” on the historic Independence Square. This is part of the Business Academy open to all students. “All Things Independence” has received lots of television media attention and that of districts around our area and across the country wanting to create a similar experience. That is just one of our hands-on experiential learning opportunities we’ve developed for ISD students.
