REASONS WHY YOU MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE THE DIVERTER VALVE:
Your radiators are getting warm whilst using the hot water
Your boiler is overheating and cutting out when trying to use the heating
The hot water is not getting as hot as it used to (it's sharing heat with the radiators)
It's leaking
A simple test to see if your diverter valve could possibly be a problem:
1.) Run your hot water
2.) Put your hand on the central heating flow pipe underneath the boiler
If the flow pipe is getting hot then either your diverter valve is faulty or your plate heat exchanger is blocked and forcing it's self back through the diverter and down the flow pipe.
