Hey guys, welcome back to our channel. We spent a whole day in Nara, and it was such a calming experience. One thing we realised while exploring Japan (especially Kyoto) is that even if you don’t have a planned itinerary, you can just start walking and it will still feel like such a fulfilling experience. Japan is one of those countries where you shouldn’t go just to tick off places from a list, you go to live, experience, and take it all in because the way Japan makes you feel, no other country will.
This is exactly how we felt on this day.
After reaching Kintetsu from Kyoto (Kintetsu is the nearest and most convenient station to explore Nara and it’s not part of the JR line), we first had some coffee at a beautiful café called Rokumei. They are one of the best and oldest coffee roasters in the country. We also tried their freshly baked croissants.
Next, we came across the very popular and viral mochi shop, famous for its mochi pounding, but we didn’t have the appetite for it at the time—so we skipped it and thought we’d try it on our way back.
Nara has a total of seven great temples, and Kofukuji is one of them. It’s a beautiful temple, and you can already spot some deer here.
Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Entry Fee: INR 290
From there, we entered Nara Deer Park, and on the way, met the cutest deers. We fed them the approved crackers and even bowed to them, it was such an amazing experience. We loved it.
After that, we went to the most important and first temple of Nara - Todai Ji. Its architecture is truly unique, and it’s home to the world’s largest bronze Buddha statue.
Time: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Entry Fee: ₹350
For lunch, we tried the local delicacy—Udon noodles and for dessert, we had some amazing matcha ice cream.
We then walked around the city and stumbled upon a very beautiful and zen garden called Yoshikien. This is honestly the prettiest garden we’ve ever seen.
Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Entry Fee: Free
Lastly, we ended our day with a cup of matcha and an incredibly beautiful view.
