Very happy with the initial prospects of the solar water fountain unit recommended by Robbie of Robbie and Gary's Easy Gardening channel to build a DIY birdbath.
Costs can be contained to come under $21.00 USD (w/ tax) if you have much of the other miscellaneous materials on hand already.
The price of the fountain can fluctuate, but I got mine in early 2021 for $12.99 with free shipping. Not sure how long the fountain will actually last, but we will see.

I cut the tubing somewhere between 15" - 17", so you can get a lot out of the 10 ft. clear vinyl tubing piece (again, found in the Plumbing dept. of the local big box hardware store).
