Ever since I installed my Yoshimura exhaust I've been getting a ton of questions asking if it needs a fuel controller and if I installed one. My answer has been that I don't have one.... Yet. Yoshimura states that if you keep the baffle in you don't need to get a tune, but since installing my exhaust I noticed a good amount of backfires when letting off the throttle at high revs. I was told this is not dangerous but it does show that the fueling is not proper. Since I installed the EJK those have practically went away.

I did a lot of testing bringing the bike up to redline and then quickly getting off the throttle and what used to result in a multiple backfires is now perfect exhaust tone. Keep in mind this is just using the settings that Dobeck provides for the Yoshimura exhaust. The unit is very easy to program and change settings as you don't need a computer or anything else to adjust it.

If you really want to fine tune your bike, for a low price Dobeck will let your rent the required tools to do so, but for most people that isn't needed. Other than loosing the backfires I feel better throttle response and overall a smoother powerband. I can't personally say that the bike is any faster or has more torque because the bike is already more than powerful enough for me but based on other users some exhaust systems loose tourqe, and a fuel controller will bring it back plus more.

Overall I really recommend the EJK kit for the Fz-07 and other bikes as well. If your modding your bike I would say it's a must and even if your keeping it stock some users have had good results with tuning their bike. The installation takes a bit of time but is easy to do.
