Inspecting an adhered EPDM roof with wood fiberboard after a hailstorm hit this property. Following a storm, the primary concern of damage to an EPDM roof is the substrate with the secondary concern being the roof's membrane. An EPDM is unlikely to sustain punctures due to hail impacts making intrusive testing necessary to determine the condition of the substrate.

During our inspection, our team observed a spatter mark and by running our fingers across we spatter mark we found a dimple. So, for this demonstration, we will show how the hail damage has damaged the fiberboard underneath. If you are to fun your finger over the spatter mark you can feel that it's very rigid and then when you hit the impact it dimples downward and then you go back up and it's rigid once again. So we're going to cut straight across that impact area just to see if we can observe some adhesion loss between the membrane and the underlying half-inch fiberboard.
