Today, I bring you the story of the Lomuwa Royal Family, a rich narrative of heritage and migration that begins with Oba Akingboju, the 8th Abodi of Ikale Land.
The Story of Oba Akingboju and Lomuwa: Oba Akingboju, the 8th Abodi of Ikale Land, had a child—his only surviving child—named Lomuwa. Lomuwa’s mother, Olori Efunoyo, faced numerous challenges in her attempts to have children, experiencing several stillbirths. Seeking divine intervention, Ifa was consulted, and the oracle prescribed that if Olori Efunoyo became pregnant again, she should return to her maternal lineage to give birth. Olori Efunoyo followed this instruction and returned to her mother’s family, the Liliken lineage, one of the sons of Lubokun Oloja (known for the saying "ofai juwen gbe owo ori ghan").
It was there that she gave birth to Lomuwa, the only surviving son of Oba Akingboju. Lomuwa grew up in his mother’s town, Igbotako, but remained a proud descendant of Oba Akingboju, a legacy deeply rooted in Ikale Land.
