Exposing the sadist only serves to enhance his self-concept.

The only effective coping strategy is to pretend that you love the pain and seek it. This creates sadistic injury and may lead to a collapse. In a state of collapse, the sadist becomes a self-destructive, self-sabotaging masochist.
