Описание: This video shows the process of final setting the crush on a Rolls-Royce Phantom 2 six-cylinder engine. The rough fitting of the caps and shims and shells has already been done. Along with a significant amount of cleanup and truing of saddles and bearing faces where there were nicks and some damage from earlier attempts to tighten up crush during the working like if the car. These included some faces that were not precisely true. Once all of this was set and the shells were split, numbered & trued, we are able to set the final crush on this crankshaft. On a engine with forged steel caps we typically go for one and a half thousandths per side of crush. In other words, three to four thousand overall. On an aluminum cap engine we are going for a slightly greater amount of crush to take into account the greater coefficient of expansion of aluminum. This entire process a fitting bearings from the time you split shells to the time crush is final set, can easily consume 40 hours of work. But it is critical to ensure a good line boring job and to ensure that the bearings do not loosen up over time and in use. Visit our website at www.Vintagegaragevt.com
