The Spirits of Japan Tour: A Shugendo - Yamabushi Ritual (by Tetsuji-sama of the Sasayuri-ann)

In 2018 we were extremely fortunate to film this Shugendo-Yamabushi Ritual at the Sasayuri-ann outside of Nara. The owner, Tetsuji-sama, situated his property in the gorgeous countryside of Japan with ancient forests, mountains and waterfalls as the backdrop.

It's here that he explores the practice of Shugendo-Yamabushi, an ancient Japanese ascetic tradition meaning “the way to spiritual power through discipline and training.”

Tetsuji-sama gave us the rare privilege of filming Shugendo-Yamabushi ritual in the shrine built onsite of the property. We also with to thank Everett Kennedy Brown, who acted as our translator/consultant and Creative Hybrid who filmed this gorgeous act of spirituality.
