We have been traveling full time since November 2020. Our current goal of visiting all 50 states has been delayed due to smoke, pandemic, and limited transportation. But we haven’t given up. Instead, we’re going to slow down a little and enjoy the drive.

What is the Million Dollar Highway? There are several ways to answer that question. Geographically speaking, when you look up a map on Google, you’ll see that there are so many different maps that it’s hard to pick one for sure. Basically, it’s US-550. However, the rules change depending upon who you ask. If you ask me, just stay on US-550.

As for the fame and name of the Million Dollar Highway, no one really knows why it’s named that, there are rumors though. There’s also plenty of reason to believe those different rumors including the negative ones. Going back to personal beliefs, and our favorite reason, the views are worth that much.

Now for the warnings. Make sure the driver is paying attention to the road. There are several hairpin turns, steep cliffs, and no guardrails. You’ll come across some overlooks along the way so plan to stop if you want to look. Keep slow and steady. Pay attention to oncoming traffic. Fuel up before you go.

The views are fantastic and worth their own video which is why we left this one for itself instead of combining it with another one. Travel north to south or uphill if at all possible. We left from Telluride and went around the northern route in order to take this trip. Stay safe and Have fun.
