This presentation offers an overview of First Nations governance from a Nêhîyaw (Plains-Cree) perspective in Treaty No. 6 Territory. This video is only intended to provide general knowledge and viewers are encouraged to do their own research based on the information provided.
André Bear (He/Him) B.Ed, J.D. is an educator and advocate of Inherent and Treaty rights that has served First Nations governments since 2016 in his role as the elected Youth Representative of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations and the Co-Chair of the Assembly of First Nations National Youth Council. Today, he serves First Nations governments through the revitalization of traditional governing systems and the practice of traditional law-making outside of the Indian Act.
This is content is not intended for legal advice for any reason. There is also small a correction when discussing Treaty rights to land - where the written text says 1 square mile per family of 5 (not 4 as mentioned in the video).
