Islam is a complete code of life, and it gives great importance to the rights of children. Long before modern laws and international conventions, Islam clearly defined the rights of children, ensuring their dignity, protection, and well-being from birth till adulthood.
In Islam, children are considered a blessing (Nemat) and a trust (Amanah) from Allah. Parents are responsible for fulfilling their physical, emotional, moral, and religious needs. The Holy Quran and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasize kindness, love, justice, and mercy towards children.
📖 Key Rights of Children in Islam include:
The right to life and protection
The right to a good name
The right to love, care, and affection
The right to proper education (Islamic & moral values)
The right to equal treatment among siblings
The right to halal food, clothing, and shelter
The right to inheritance
Protection from abuse, neglect, and injustice
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ showed immense love towards children and taught the Ummah to treat them with compassion. Islam strictly forbids cruelty and neglect of children and commands parents to raise them with Taqwa, Akhlaq, and Deen.
