तरुणांच्या तथाकथित क्रांतिनंतर नेपाळमध्ये झालेल्या निवडणुकांमध्ये राष्ट्रीय स्वतंत्र पार्टीला छप्परफाड बहुमत मिळाले. कालपरवा स्थापन झालेल्या पक्षाने प्रस्थापितांचा बाजार उठवला. आलटून पालटून सत्तेत असलेल्या नेपाळी काँग्रेस आणि कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ नेपाळ आणि नेपाळ कम्युनिस्ट पार्टीचा धुव्वा उडाला. दोन्ही कम्युनिस्ट पक्षांना एक आकडी जागा मिळालेल्या आहेत. चीनसाठी हा जबरदस्त दणका मानला जातो आहे. भारतात अरविंद केजरीवाल यांच्या आम आदमी पार्टीला अण्णा हजारे यांच्या भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी आंदोलनानंतर मिळालेले आरएसपी पार्टीचे युवा नेते बालेन शहा यांचा हा विजय यात बरेच साम्य आहे. नेपाळमध्ये झालेल्या तथाकथित जेन झी क्रांतिपूर्वी के.पी.शर्मा ओली यांचे सरकार होते. काठमांडूचे महापौर बालेन्द्र शहा यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली तरुण रस्त्यावर उतरले. अनेक ठिकाणी जाळपोळ हिंसाचाराच्या घटना घडल्या. जमावाने माजी पंतप्रधान झालानाथ खनाल यांच्या घराला लावलेल्या आगीत त्यांची पत्नी राज्यलक्ष्मी चित्रकार यांचा मृत्यू झाला. अनेक सरकारी इमारतींना आग लावण्यात आली. मोठ्या संख्येने तोडफोडीच्या घटना घडल्या. सरकार कोसळल्यानंतर माजी मुख्य न्यायाधीश सुशीला कार्की यांची हंगामी सरकारच्या प्रमुखपदी नियुक्ती करण्यात आली. काल निवडणुकांचे निकाल जाहीर झाले.
