Rector of Holy Family Cathedral, Fr. Brian O’Brien, stresses the importance of building a culture of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.
He pointed out that his parents, grandparents, friends, and teachers gave him “little shots of encouragement” as he discerned becoming a priest. Future priests and sisters are out there in the pews – and they need our prayers.
Don’t just wish for an increase in vocations, but practice the theological virtue of hope that God can bring it about through His goodness.
“When was the last time you walked up to a young man or a young woman in your parish or your household and said, ‘I think you’d be a really good priest.’ ‘I think you should think about religious life.’ ‘I think you’d be a wonderful religious sister,’ Fr. O’Brien said.
