Today 30th September, is Orange Shirt Day in Canada, a National Day for Truth and Recognition of the Injustices Against First Nations Children through the Residential Schools program. We should recognise these injustices EVERY day, and strive to do better to help the healing.
I gratefully respect that I am living and recording this music on the Unceded Territories of the Traditional Homelands of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) speaking people Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ Nations.
I am very grateful for this privilege and I am committed to continue working towards reconciliation.
Here are three jigs from the late Gordon Duncan I recorded to follow last night's tunes. Rory Gallagher, The Jig O' Beer (edit) and the Famous Baravan. I got these tunes from the great fiddle player Pete Clark of Logierait.
