Interview recorded in Queally's Bar, Miltown Malbay, during Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy 2023.
Seán Talty from Glendine, Miltown Malbay is the fourth of five generations of musicians in his family. He started at the age of five years old on the tin whistle, which is a common starting point for youngsters taking the first steps on their musical journey. By the age of twelve or thirteen he had progressed to the flute and pipes. His first set of pipes were a boxwood Leo Rowsome set which he got at the time of Willie Clancy's death.
