These opening lines reverberated in my mind, back in 95, and continue to do so, to this day. Hearing the G.O.A.T. Killah Priest for the first time, describing the scene in such detail, left me mesmerized:

Probably at first they tried to rob me
Back me in the lobby, pull out the shotty
Then came Scotty, fragile body
My first impression, he returned from a party
He would just stagger, smellin' like Bacardi
The Dragon, braggin', how he was fuckin' mad hotties
Pressed on the elevator button, then all of a sudden
He licked off, about a dozen
Slugs from the cannon, that ripped through my cousin
And no one was standing when the nigga started bustin'
Blood started to flood the floors by the elevator doors
That's the last thing that I saw
Damn, we planned to make grands and buy homes

Experiencing this tape (Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version) as a teenager in 1995, had an immeasurable influence on my perception of hip-hop. From the dystopian RZA created soundscapes, to the incredible flows of underground lyricists, such as the Brooklyn Zu, this album was, and remains a classic.

In honor of this groundbreaking gem (Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version), the Japan-based producer Nomen X, along with Mystic City Assassins, is proud to present the "Snakes - Nomen X Edit."
