The Christian Armor Series Part 5 | The Shield of Faith

Описание: One of the most famous stories from early Roman history involves Publius Horatius Cocles, a Roman officer during the war against the Etruscan king Lars Porsena.

According to ancient historians – like Livy and Polybius – the Etruscans were advancing across the narrow wooden bridge over the Tiber River—the only direct route into the city.

Horatius, with two companions, volunteered to hold the far end of the bridge while the Romans behind them chopped it down to prevent the enemy from crossing. As the Etruscans charged, Horatius and his companions stood firm – they caught and deflected a storm of javelins, spears, and arrows on their shields. When the day was done, the victory was won and the city of Rome was saved.
