The Omnissa Horizon HTTPS Secure Tunnel is a security feature that wraps traffic from the Horizon Client (such as RDP, USB redirection, and user authentication) in an encrypted SSL/TLS tunnel (port 443) to the Horizon Connection Server or Unified Access Gateway (UAG). It enables secure, remote access to virtual desktops and applications, particularly for users outside the internal network, without requiring a full VPN.
|| Key Aspects of the Omnissa Horizon Secure Tunnel:
__Security Mechanism: It secures RDP data and other TCP-based traffic by encapsulating it within an HTTPS connection.
__Access Component: It acts as a gateway for clients connecting to a Horizon Connection Server or UAG instance.
__Protocol Support: While it handles RDP and peripheral traffic (like USB and MMR), it is used alongside specialized gateways PCoIP Secure Gateway and Blast Secure Gateway—for high-performance display protocols.
__Usage Scenario: Typically, this is enabled for external connections (over the WAN/Internet) and can be disabled for internal, LAN-connected clients to allow direct connections.
__Configuration: The tunnel is configured with an external URL, usually pointing to the FQDN of the UAG or Connection Server.
|| When enabled, the Horizon client establishes a secure tunnel to the connection broker, ensuring that traffic is authorized and encrypted before accessing internal resources.
