Over planting can easily happen and it creates too much competition for young small newly planted varieties for the jungle tropical garden.
Too many trees can dry up the soil especially during a very hot dry summer that Ireland has experienced this year. Probably the best summer, autumn on record for a long time.
If there's too much competition the weaker trees can die.
Dry ground nearly killed 2 recently planted rhododendrons, but were saved just in time with watering. Rhododendrons need space with damp soil to be healthy and at their best.
