If you are going to write your own workout, make sure that you complete the biggest exercises at the start and then you work your way down as you go through the routine. 'Big exercises’ are multi-joint movements or compound lifts.
Generally speaking, you’ll be doing yourself a great favor if you work your way down from the biggest exercise of the day, what many call ‘the main lift’, to the smallest exercise, which is often times is referred to as ‘accessory movements’ in powerlifting circles or ‘isolation exercises’ in the bodybuilding world.
For this specific reason, you want to take advantage of the moment where you are the least fatigued, and thus the strongest, to perform the bigger exercises. Which are harder than single-joint moves.
As pretty much everything in this world, there are always exceptions, but to arrange a routine based off the amount of muscle mass used in each movement is a good general rule of thumb that will serve you well.
