This is how I repair a drywall plasterboard ceiling. Start off cutting out a perpendicular shape of the damaged areas you want to replace. Try and keep it straight and clean as the plasterboard will slip in there.
Next is the taping in, we use fibafuse because its flat, strong & it doesn't bubble.
Once you have done the second base coat you can then top coat. Top coat is normally pre mixed. We don't use pre mixed for the other first two coats because it will take too long to dry. You should be able to come back 24 hours later to sand and paint
