Algonquin Provincial Park, Track and Tower Trail

Описание: This is a very beautiful trail in Algonquin Park. It is very popular in the fall, with an incredible view from the lookout, as well as a rushing river and two lakes. It is not an easy hike, however. It is a 7.7 km loop and a total ascent of 300m.

You will need a daily vehicle permit (DVP) to visit the Highway 60 corridor in Algonquin Park. You can buy this permit online at the Ontario Parks website up to 5 days in advance, and if you are going in the fall, I recommend buying the pass as early as possible because the DVPs often sell out.

You can also get the permit at one of the gates to the park, but there may be a long line, and if the permits are sold out, you won't be able to get one.

If you have an Ontario Parks Annual Pass, you still need to have a DVP for the day you are visiting, but you do not need to pay for it.

The name of the trail comes from 1) there used to be train tracks through this area and 2) there used to be a fire observation tower at the lookout.
