LEAF Open Farm Sunday connects communities across Britain with farming and food producers.
Results from the LEAF Open Farm Sunday visitor and farmer surveys demonstrate the power of welcoming people onto farm to build trust and support for British farming.
255 farmers across Britain opened their gates in June for farming’s annual open day, this year on 11th June. Publicity generated reached far and wide with farmers welcoming over 170,750 people onto farms, with 96% rating events as either ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ and 1 in 5 (21%) had never visited a farm before.
Going out onto farms, seeing farming close up, meeting farmers and asking questions, has a hugely positive impact on increasing understanding of farming, food production and the environment.
