A shocking incident from Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh, has raised serious concerns over caste-based mentality and religious intolerance.
In Majhigawan village under Baikunthpur police station, Rohit Yadav was allegedly assaulted by a local accused. According to the victim, during the attack the accused made a caste-related remark, saying:
"Yadav hoke choti rakhta hai, kal katha karna shuru kar dega."
The victim alleges that he was beaten, abused, and his 7-year-old religious hair tuft (Choti)—kept as a symbol of devotion to Sanatan Dharma and Lord Hanuman—was forcibly pulled out.
This alleged statement has brought the caste angle of the incident into focus, with villagers calling it not just an assault, but an expression of deep-rooted caste prejudice.
The victim also claimed insensitive remarks at the police station, further raising questions on the response of authorities.
Azad Samaj Party leader Damodar Yadav has spoken to the victim and assured full support. He stated that he would personally speak to the Superintendent of Police, Rewa, demanding strict action against the accused.
Due to safety concerns, the victim has shifted his work nearly 20 km away to Kyonti village.
