风雨任平生｜自得琴社 × 施夏明 昆曲古筝大鼓二胡《定风波》The Sound of Chinese ZEN｜Zi De Decodes Su Shi's Wisdom Through Music

在唐彬老师的新编曲中，乐脉与词境呼应：抚琴以行吟，奋筝而写意，挽胡诉情，振鼓抒怀，如摩竹林烟雨，写尽东坡胸襟。
Zi De Guqin Studio Presents
A new adaptation of Calming the Waves, based on Deng Yiqun’s contemporary guzheng composition. Featuring Shi Xiaming (President of Jiangsu Kunqu Theatre, National First-Class Performer) as Su Shi, blending Kunqu vocal artistry with guzheng’s resonance, transforming the timeless verse into visible, audible grandeur:
"Listen not to the rain through forest leaves—
Why not chant and walk slow?"

In Tang Bin’s rearrangement, instruments mirror the poem’s spirit:

Guqin whispers like Su’s soliloquy

Guzheng sweeps like his brushstrokes

Erhu mourns like prison’s memory

Grand drum thunders like his defiance

A sonic storm—smoke, bamboo, rain—carving Dongpo’s soul.

元丰五年（1082），黄州贬所，苏轼赴沙湖途中，骤雨穿林而至。

在《定风波》小序中，他淡淡记下：
“三月七日，沙湖道中遇雨。雨具先去，同行皆狼狈，余独不觉。已而遂晴，故作此词。”

同行者仓皇避走，他一人独拄竹杖，踏芒鞋，吟啸徐行：“竹杖芒鞋轻胜马，谁怕？一蓑烟雨任平生。”东坡居士，豪放不羁，遇事一笑，万虑俱空。

那一年，苏轼四十七岁。三年前的乌台诗案，让他几乎命丧御史台狱。在多方亲友的支援下，苏轼终免于一死，被贬为黄州团练副使，虚衔而少俸。

黄州城东的二顷荒地，是他筑室自耕的“东坡”。清贫困顿，唯在江畔或饮酒赋诗或泛舟游赏，寄情山水，作赋抒怀。事业跌落低谷，而艺术生涯却达到高峰。

《定风波·莫听穿林打叶声》是他黄州时期最透脱的词作之一，小事入词，写景不繁，而意境深远，蕴尽风雨人生的起落与解脱：“回首向来萧瑟处，归去，也无风雨也无晴。”

历经宦海沉浮、狱中生死后，东坡并未沉沦于人事枯荣，而获澄明心境。《定风波·莫听穿林打叶声》延续了他在《前赤壁赋》中“惟江上之清风，与山间之明月”所表现的旷达，也与其后来惠州贬谪中“日啖荔枝三百颗”的自适精神一脉相承。
Huangzhou, 1082 (Yuanfeng 5th Year)
On his way to Shahu Lake, Su Shi was caught in a sudden downpour—raindrops piercing through the forest canopy.

In the preface to Calming the Waves, he noted with characteristic detachment:
"Seventh day of the third month: Rain on the Shahu Road. The rain gear had gone ahead; my companions scurried in distress, but I felt nothing. Soon, the skies cleared—thus, this lyric."

While others fled in panic, he alone walked slowly, leaning on a bamboo staff, straw sandals treading the mud, chanting aloud:
"A straw cloak—let it shield me through life’s mist and rain. Who’s afraid? With bamboo staff and sandals, lighter than a horse I go."
Dongpo the Recluse: Unfettered, laughing through adversity, his mind unshackled from worldly cares.

He was forty-seven that year. Three years earlier, the Black Terrace Poetry Case had nearly cost him his life in the Censorate’s prison. Thanks to allies’ appeals, he was spared death—exiled instead as Deputy Militia Commissioner of Huangzhou, a hollow title with meager pay.

East of Huangzhou’s walls lay two barren acres he reclaimed as "Eastern Slope", building a hut and tilling the land. In poverty, he found solace by the river—drinking, composing poetry, drifting in boats. His career had plunged, yet his art soared to new heights.

Calming the Waves (Listen Not to the Rain) stands among his most transcendent works from this period. A fleeting moment expands into profound meditation on life’s storms and release:
"Turning my head to the bleak path behind,
I go back—
No wind, no rain, no light."

After surviving political storms and prison’s shadow, Dongpo emerged not embittered, but lucid. This ci echoes the equanimity of Red Cliffs Ode—"Only the river’s breeze, the mountain’s moon"—and foreshadows his later exile resilience: "Three hundred lychees a day—I’d gladly stay in Lingnan!"
