He was Acholi`s veteran tobacco farmer who was responsible for commercializing farming in Northern Uganda.

He started tobacco farming at his Lakwatomer farm in the then Gulu district now Omoro after resigning from the education sector in 1945. By 1959 his farm produced and supplied over 30% of Tobacco to the regional markets and employed over 700 workers from the East African region including Zaire now DR Congo and Sudan.

He was the first Chairperson of the Great Acholi district from 1958 to 1964. In 1968 he served as the first General Secretary of the Greater Acholi District. He was also the first Chairperson of Uganda Farmers and also served as the Chairman of Northern and Eastern Uganda Town Board.
