How to fix U0101 Trouble Code: 2011 Chevy Traverse (wire repair)

This video shows you what it's like to see the broken wire that was causing a trouble code U0101 in this 2011 Chevy Chevrolet Traverse SUV GM general motors that could also be GMC acadia too. The problem is due to a wire that is rubbing against the connector housing for the TCM transmission control module main connector cable, there is poor insulation and not the correct amount or position of wire loom to protect the cables wires inside the connector from abrasion due to wear and contact with the plastic housing. Luckily, there is just enough cable inside the connector when it is opened up, so you can make a repair to this wire using proper butt connector with sealing, such as shown here in these photo stills.

This vehicle was brought in with a transmission in limp mode complaint, the driver could barely move the car, but it was driveable. It was just in limp home mode. So we did drive it into the shop for diagnosis and repair diagnostic time applied and was quick. There was also lots of green corrosion on the wire itself, which is copper oxide due to the copper wire coming into contact with moisture in the air. This copper wire corrosion is the cause for the problem, because the wire resistance got so high, it could not conduct any longer, and the PCM computer picked this up as a trouble spot and put out a code to alert the driver and also put into limp mode.
