Day 3: As we moved ahead from Kalpa to Tabo, you will find the weather and environment change dramatically, and the landscape suddenly changes to barren, rugged mountains with a desert-like feel. The lower Kinnaur, consisting of Kalpa, Sangla, and Chitkul, looks greener, while the upper Kinnaur, from Spillow to Nako and further into Spiti, feels barren, rugged, and almost like a cold desert. The terrain is at 2,500–4,000 meters from sea level. The mountains look almost desert-like with very little greenery. The lush greenery around Kalpa, Sangla, and lower Kinnaur is because they still receive rainfall from the Indian monsoon. But as you move further north and east, the Great Himalayas block the monsoon winds, preventing rain from reaching upper Kinnaur.

Today, we are scheduled to ride around 163 kilometers via Nako village to Tabo village in the Spiti region.

On our expedition, we traversed Kinnaur Valley, Spiti Valley, Lahaul Valley, Nubra Valley, and Ladakh's most remote "Changthang" region. We crossed over twelve high passes in the greater Himalayas. It took 23 days to complete the 3,500-kilometer journey.
