Granola manufacturers have increased sugar and other unhealthy ingredients ever since they engaged in the "Granola Wars" in the 1970s when granola first came on the scene.Woodstock Music Festival made it popular when they distributed it to 400,000 attendees.The American diet has twice the amount of sugar as recommended by the American Heart Association. Granola is very easy to make at home and tastes so much better than store-bought. But the most important thing is that it is much healthier than store-bought. The delicious recipe included in this video has simple ingredients but can be adjusted to personal tastes and individual health needs.

THE BEST GRANOLA RECIPE
MIX TOGETHER:
1 egg white
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons coconut sugar
1/2 teaspoon (or less) pink Himalayan salt (powered in a coffee mill)
1 teaspoon almond extract or other flavoring of choice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
ADD:
3 cups old fashioned rolled oats (or mixture of oats and ancient grains)
1 cup unsweetened flat variety coconut flakes
2 tablespoons ground flax (optional)
1-1/2 cup various nuts and seeds (sesame seeds, pepitas, hazelnuts, pecans, almonds, macadamia, almonds, sunflower seeds, etc)
Line a large 13x18 inch baking sheet (or two smaller pans) with parchment paper. Bake 1 275º for 40 minutes, turning pan mid-time for even baking. DO NOT STIR!
