The Move Forward Party, MFP emerged as the single largest party winning the most seats in the election. However, due to its anti-establishment stance and policy platform that threatened entrenched interests, particularly regarding its position on reforming the monarchy, the party faced significant opposition from the military royalist establishment and conservative elements within Thai politics. The Pheu Thai party which came in second eventually lead the formation of the coalition government. Initially, Pheu Tai Party had attempted to work with Move Forward Party. But this collaboration faltered due to resistance from key power brokers and the fear of Move Forward's progressive agenda. Consequently, Pheu Tai shifted its strategy and sought alliances with smaller parties and members of the previous government's coalition. This new coalition, while ensuring a majority in parliament, involved compromises and a departure from some of Pheu Thai’s earlier commitments, particularly regarding issues that move forward championed.
