Medical Response to Active Shooter/ Terrorism
Prep
(PPE, Medical supplies, Stretcher)

Scene Assessment
(additional suspects, sound of gunfire, IED, Fire, HAZMAT)
↓
Find Victims
(Some will be obvious, some will be hiding or locked in rooms)
↓
Quick Victim Assessment: Dead or Alive?
↓ ↓
DEAD Alive
↓ ↓
Leave Them Victim Assessment
↓
1 Mental Status
a. Awake. Alert?
b. Victim Able to Speak? (Gather Intel)
c. Can Victim Able to assist in own care? (Self-evac, Self-bandage)
2. Bleeding
a. Extremity i. Direct Pressure/Pressure
Bandage
ii. Server/uncontrolled: tourniquet
b. Abdomen/Pelvic
i. Bandage
ii. Internal Bleeding: rapid transport
c. Clotting Agents: if uncontrolled bleeding in neck, axilla, groin
3. Spinal immobilization needed?
4. Chest wound: Occlusive dressing (if large hole)
5. Airway: Keep open
6. Signs of shock: Elevate legs/Rapid transport
7. Cardiac Arrest: NO CPR!
