How To Repair A Polyurethane Air Hose

Описание: This air hose needs a new coupler and it’s got a leak at the edge of the fitting- Let’s fix it.
First, I’m gonna cut out this bad section of hose.
These fittings are actually reusable, but this one’s been damaged so I’m gonna replace it with a new one.
This hose is ¼” polyurethane, so these brass fittings will work perfect.
It takes a fair amount of force to get the hose over the barbs, but once you get it in place you just thread the two pieces together.
Being careful not to damage the threads, I put it in the vice so that I could snug it up.
Next, I wrapped some Teflon tape around the threads before I installed the new coupler.
Then I put it back in the vice and used a ¾” wrench to get it tight.
While I had the tools out, I figured I might as well go ahead and do the other end.
These hoses get flexed a lot at the fittings so that’s where they usually start to leak.
I cut away an inch or so of the hose near the fitting; then I put it all back together.
I love these lightweight polyurethane hoses- I’ve had this Flexeel one for about 15 years.
Let’s plug it in and see if we hear any leaks. No hissing sounds it’s good to go.
