Why Your Tahajjud Isn’t Moving Your Rizq (Do This Instead)

For a long time, my Tahajjud looked like this.

Wake up.

Make wudu.

Pray.

Go into sujood.

Ask for the my business to work.

Ask for the rizq.

Ask for the marriage.

Same list.

Every single night.

Then lift my head and go back to dream land.

But nothing moved… at all.

I was still stuck in my own life.

But… I thought I was doing it right.

I mean… I was waking up at 3am.

What more does Allah want from me?

(Astaghfirullah… I cringe writing that.)

Then a sheikh said something I couldn’t unhear.

“The Prophet ﷺ’s sujood was so long his companions thought he had passed away.”

He just stayed… in silence.

After the words ran out.

And I realized what I’d been doing.

I was using the most powerful moment of connection with Allah like a voicemail.

Talk.

Hang up.

Go to sleep.

And then wondering why my rizq wasn’t moving.

Bro, sis.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The closest a servant is to his Lord is when he is in sujood.” (Muslim 482)

You’re at the closest point to Allah you’ll ever be.

And most of us leave after 10 seconds.

Most of us "waste" this sacred moment.

So tonight, try this.

After your last rak’ah… go into sujood.

Say everything you need to say.

Then stop talking.

Stay there.

Forehead on the ground.

And say this 10 times, slowly:

“Ya Qarib. Ya Mujib.”

O the Near One. O the One who responds.

That’s maybe 60 seconds.

And wallahi, the weeks I started doing this were the weeks things started shifting.

I didn’t use more words.

I just finally left space for something to come back.
