Описание: We Are Wednesbury Community Lantern Procession

Our annual lantern procession took place on Saturday 25 November around Friar Park and Woods estate in Wednesbury, with all the lanterns made with local arts collective Bostin' Arts and community groups.

Using Woods Methodist Church as our base, we brought the the celebration to people's doorsteps; it was brilliant to see so many workshop participants and their families come out on the evening of the procession to carry their lanterns and walk alongside the giant puppets through Friar Park. As night fell, the glow from a hundred lanterns lit the streets, with Ghost Caribou from Thingumajig Theatre leading the procession and music from Head Rush Brass Band drawing families to their doorsteps to watch and cheer.

We would like to thank everyone involved in making the procession so magical: Bostin’ Arts, Thingumajig Theatre, Roger Coley from 617 Air Scouts, Head Rush Brass Band, stewards, puppeteers, volunteers, and of course our We Are Wednesbury participants.

We would also like to thank Historic England for funding the procession through a Know Your Neighbourhood grant, a strand of funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
