How To: Alter the Cup Size Of A Soft Cup Bra

Описание: A little tutorial on how to increase and decrease cup sizes on my Willow bra pattern, this method can be applied to other soft cup bra patterns too!

My willow bra pattern is drafted for a C cup as it is a very common bra size. However, with a few simple, quick and easy pattern adjustments, it can be altered to fit many more cup sizes too.

You work out your cup size by measuring you under bust and bust measurement. Your under bust measurement is taken around you, under your boobs. Your bust measurement is taken around you at the widest point, around your boobs. Each inch difference represents a different cup size. That is each inch of your OVERALL bust measurement, not each boob. That's why you remove/add half of the amount you are trying to alter the bra by. As you cut two of each pattern piece, whatever you do to one side is repeated on the other. So 1/2" of each seam here, makes a difference of 1" per bust seam. This makes an overall increase/decrease of 2" and therefore a increase/decrease of two cup sizes.
