European members of Parliament slammed the European Union over its 'silence' on the United States capture of Venezuela's president Nicolas Maduro. Danilo Della Valle, an MEP with the Left group, criticised the European Union’s anti-interventionist stance and a lack of robust action in response to Donald Trump. Alexander Sell, president of the newly formed European Party of Sovereign Nations, accused European Commission president Ursula Von Der Leyen her of squandering European taxpayers’ money on climate and gender policies, which he claimed bolstered US ambitions to increase wealth at the expense of Venezuelan oil while Europe’s economy falters.
