Help Stop High-Level Nuclear Waste from Coming to the Permian Basin

The Permian Basin Coalition of Land and Royalty Owners and Operators is fighting to prevent massive quantities of high-level radioactive nuclear waste from coming to the Permian Basin by rail… to be stored at the surface… largely unprotected… for a long time and perhaps forever. This puts our people, lands, waters, air, our businesses and our abundant and strategic oil and gas fields at great risk of terrorist attack, sabotage, and natural disasters.

Unless we stand up right now as a community to oppose these plans, the Nuclear Regulatory Agency appears to be on a path to grant the pending licenses, which are moving forward rapidly.

Plans are to rail in much and perhaps all of the highly radioactive waste from nuclear power plant sites across America and store it in Andrews County, Texas, and Lea County, New Mexico… right in the center of the Permian Basin oil fields. This deadly waste will be radioactive for millions of years. The Coalition has good reason to believe it is likely to be stored here permanently.
