I thought I would post this bonus snow video before igneous processes take it all (melting!).
A couple of weeks ago I showed the effect of heating on sintering (grain growth) processes. This is important for many metamorphic rocks - snow, quartzite and marble to give 3 well known examples.
Here we look at the effect of pressure and compaction. This is how loose sediments turn into rocks - the very earliest stages of metamorphism - called diagenesis.
